What we already know bout this kit…
We have already seen a lot of great Wall Hobby’s most recently released kit, the A-10C in 48th scale. We have seen some really good detail, and CAD comparisons with the real aircraft showed the designers had a great idea. Engine fans and shape could even satisfy a lot of aftermarket companies.
Today we saw more of the details of the decals, colour profiles, metal parts & sprue layout of the kit. We have already seen one of these being test built and boy were we impressed…
The sprue layout shows a little of how this kit fits together. In the building parts, the contours of an aircraft have been followed. Reduce seams and filling. This product is designed to maximize the accuracy of reproduction, with a high number of convex shaped rivets and references to real aircraft parts, cabin lines, and aircraft shapes. The product is optimized to reduce the amount of time spent filling in and sanding. This kit has a lot of raised rivets, so it would be best to minimize any fettling once this was glued. GWH worked very hard to replicate the cockpit transparent parts. You might notice there is a large nose weight for this kit, as well as some minimal photo-etch parts for the thinner parts of the airframe.
There are five marking choices for this kit. This kit has a variety of marking options, including warthogs (wild boar), tiger and snake mouthed, along with others that have kill marks on the nose. The second sheet includes cockpit decals and stencils as well as side consoles and formation lights. It also contains chaff dispensers and lifting points. This sheet includes stencils for all of the Warthog weapons.
