Iconic Star Wars droid’s C-3PO head up for auction…expected to fetch $1 million

Iconic Star Wars droid's head up for auction...expected to fetch $1 million

Star Wars actor Anthony Daniels is auctioning off memorabilia in Los Angeles, including the famous droid’s head, which is expected to sell for $1 million.

Anthony Daniels, the actor who portrayed the iconic robot C-3PO in the Star Wars films, is parting ways with his memorabilia.

The 78-year-old Daniels is auctioning off a collection of Star Wars memorabilia from his personal collection in Los Angeles.

The light-up helmet worn by Daniels in the 1983 film Return of the Jedi is expected to fetch up to $1 million at the Propstore auction, which takes place between March 12-14.

The droid’s head is similar to a C-3PO head that sold for nearly $850,000 at an auction that also featured Daniels last November.

After playing the droid in films and TV shows for decades, Daniels admitted he felt a bit of reluctance to part with C-3PO. “I’ve lived with these things for 50 years and I have very mixed feelings about letting them go,” Daniels said. “All of these things were in cupboards, drawers and in the attic. No one was looking at them, no one was appreciating them. And they’re too good to throw away.”

However, Daniels did choose to keep a statue from Lucasfilm congratulating him on 40 years of service, and an 18-inch C-3PO figure made out of Legos.

While the shiny C-3PO head is undoubtedly the star of the auction, there are plenty of other items up for grabs, including other body parts from the droid. C-3PO’s hands from The Empire Strikes Back are estimated to sell for up to $60,000.
