The largest bird on the planet is an ostrich, and it is indigenous to Africa.
It is known for being able to run fast and having a diverse diet that includes small animals and plants. They can reach speeds up to 70 km/h and are the fastest land birds. Ostriches lay the biggest eggs of all birds. They can weigh up to 1.4kg and have the same capacity as 24 chicken eggs. Ostriches are unable to fly despite their large, strong wings.
