A 35th scale Apache surprise from Takom
The Pz.Kpfw. II Ausf. a2 was a variant of the German Pz.Kpfw. II tanks, which was used during World War II. It was an improved version of the Ausf. a variant, with the main difference being the addition of an improved suspension system. It was also equipped with thicker armor than the Ausf. a variant, and had a crew of three.
The Pz.Kpfw. II Ausf. a2 was armed with a 2 cm KwK 30 L/55 gun and a 7.92 mm MG34 machine gun. It had a maximum road speed of 40 km/h and a range of 260 km. The Ausf. a2 variant was produced from April to June of 1940, and around 100 were produced. The Pz.Kpfw. II was used primarily in reconnaissance and infantry support roles and saw action on the Eastern and Western fronts.
It is important to note that the Pz.Kpfw II was no longer considered suitable for combat against other tanks by the end of 1941 and was phased out in 1942.
