1:72 Mosquito Mk. XVI Upgrades

Barracuda Studio are proud to announce the release of new 3D-printed and vacform details sets.

Airfix first released a Mosquito B MK XVI powered by Merlin in 2021, and then followed up with a PR XVI a year later. The kit is very well done, but it could do with some attention to detail. Barracuda Studios comes to the rescue. These detail sets are high up on my priority list because I am a big fan of Mosquito and especially of the stage marks. The sets add an impressive level of detailing to the Mosquito!

BR72462 – 1:72 Mosquito B Mk. Canopy XVI
This set includes a clear, vacformed canopy in the bomber-style with side bulges as found on B Mk. The XVI, Mk. 35 Mosquitos. The real plane has internal frames, not external ones, and bulged windows on both sides. This upgrade will make it easier to view the cockpit. Falcon

BR72463 – 1:72 Mosquito PR Mk. Canopy XVI
This set includes a clear, vacformed canopy that has bulged windows on both sides and an upper teardrop blister. It is used in many PR Mk. This set includes a crystal clear vacformed canopy with bulged side windows and a teardrop blister on the top as used by many PR Mk. The real Mosquito has internal frames, not external ones, and bulged windows on both sides. This upgrade will make it easier to view the cockpit. Falcon

BR72464 – 1:72 Mosquito Slotted mainwheels – Block Tread
This set includes a pair 3D-printed mainwheels with detailed slotted hubs and block tread tires. Fitted to the early Mk IV Bomber, PR version and NF II Nightfighter. Easy to install Mosquito detail upgrade. This upgrade is designed for Tamiya and Hasegawa kits. Gerry Mos. CAD.
BR72466 – 1:72 Mosquito Late mainwheels – Block Tread
This set includes a pair 3D-printed mainwheels, with solid hubs in the late style (dual disk brakes), and block tread tires. It also contains tire data. Fitted to all Mosquitos starting with the Mk VI and up to the production end. This is a simple detail upgrade that you can install on your Mosquito. This extensive upgrade kit includes two types of carburettor inlets (with or without tropical filters), deep intake throats with fabric screen, and a separate ice guard. BR72468 – 1:72 Mosquito Mk XVI Landing Gear Upgrade
This set is a replacement landing gear for Airfix kits. Landing gear retracts, legs, and mudguards, all 3D-printed, are provided in one single piece. Separate crisp, thin mainwheels, and incredibly accurate landing gear, can be found separately. Also included is a complete tailwheel, with an anti-shimmy rubber and a detailed leg. BR72469 – 1:72 Mosquito Mk XVI Landing Flaps – Down
This set contains 3D-printed port and stbd flaps that are molded down. Mosquito kits do not allow you to place the flaps down. The flaps seem to float in the air when they are lowered. Mike’s solution is brilliant. The small connection points are fragile but Mike provides the outer and inner flaps for each wing in a single piece. This also makes it easier to align. This is a pretty neat trick that only involves removing some ribs from the inside of the wings. CAD by Mike O’Hare.
