Airacobra Test Build & Pre-Orders Commence

Arma Hobby released images from the testing of its soon-to-be released P39Q Airacobra in 1:48 scale.

New Arma Hobby 1/48 Airacobra. Kit pre-order

Today we are starting pre-orders for a new 1/48 scale kit. This is not a surprise anymore. It’s the P-39Q Airacobra. The model was revealed at the Babaryba Warsaw Modeling Festival, which took place last weekend. It received a warm welcome from hundreds of modellers both from Poland and from abroad. Many photos with enthusiastic comments also appeared on social media, and the iModeler portal will soon publish the first review based on test injections from the Festival.

News! News!

As many people at the Warsaw Festival noted, the 1/48 Airacobra kit is different than the older Arma Hobby kits. As a result of the use of newer technology, the sprues differ from the older kits. The channels connecting the pieces are much smaller than before. The modeller can now clean the pieces much more quickly after they are removed from the sprue. The price has also been changed. This kit was developed from the experience gained in creating an analogous model at 1/72 size. We made the assembly easier and corrected some minor errors that were found in the 1/72 Cobra. We are always looking to improve our products and as producers we constantly look for innovative solutions. We reached a limit with the 1/48 Hurricane – it is incredibly detailed, has perfect fit but was a lot of work and expensive to develop and produce moulds. This must have affected the price. We have now taken on the challenge of producing a kit that is both detailed and fits perfectly, while also being more efficient and cost-effective. All in Poland. This allowed us to achieve a high level of detail saturation on the surface. We chose not to include rivets because the Cobra, like the Hurricane, was an aircraft of a “smoother” generation. Its designers used flush-heads only, due to concerns about air flow. It is not for everyone that the “holes” are reproduced in plastic, but those who desire a riveted version can easily do so. We considered it for a long time and made the decision consciously.

Files with accessories for 3D printing

Similarly to Hurricane, we have prepared a rich variety of 3D files for the Airacobra 1/48 kit for self-printing. You can get some of these files for free in promotional bundles. Others are available at a good price. The price of 3D printers is dropping and they are more widely available. You can still print your files if you do not have one. Even if you don’t plan to print the files, download them and store them on your computer. It is worth having them, the progress in this technology is very fast and the availability of printers is increasing rapidly.

Promotional sets

For the pre-order of the new 1/48 Airacobra, we have prepared several attractive promotional bundles, the larger the bundle you order, the bigger the discount you will get. Airacobras can be purchased in bundles or to complete the Hurricane Collection. You can also download free resin files to print on your 3D printer with each promotional bundle. Download them even if you don’t have a printer, these devices are becoming more and more available and maybe soon you will be able to print them without any problems?
