Softcover – Dimensions: 26 inch X 26 inches is a 116 page book on the BAE Systems Hawk. The 50th Anniversary of the First Flight of the Hawk is the ideal time to take a close look at this elegant jet trainer.
The authors of this book visited RAF Valley, located in Wales on the Irish Sea coast. The book includes many photos of the Hawk T2, but also the T1A, and other export versions. As usual, the chapter on cockpits is large. The glass cockpit of T2, the T1’s analogue cockpit, as well as the T2’s ejection seats are all shown.
The maintenance section is a 20-page book that shows all the details you can’t see: the open spine, the engine bays and the Hawk with its wings off. In addition to photos of RAF jets, there are also pictures of Hawks from Canada, Finland Australia, Saudi Arabia Malaysia India Switzerland South Africa Oman Qatar, and some private Hawks. There are four demonstration teams who fly the Hawk.
The Red Arrows are well-known, but there is also Team Surya Kiran which operates the Hawk Mk.132, as well as the Finnish Midnight Hawks. This book is available from March 12, at your favorite model or book store.
The Hawk-book’s suggested retail price is 25,50 euros. This reference is due to be published by March 31st, as a result of a small printers’ delay. DH-034 contains 140 pages of information on the Boeing AH-64 Apache. When it comes, we’ll let you know!
