Decals - USMC Phantoms during the Vietnam War

AOA Decals will soon release a new decal set in 1:72 featuring the USMC F-4B/F-4J Phantoms during the Vietnam War.

Next upcoming release in Q1 will be 1/72 Decals for the Fine Molds F-4B & F-4J Phantom. This release will include schemes covering the entire land-based USMC F-4 Squadrons during the Vietnam War, excluding recon RF-4Bs. The releases are 72-014 Spooks From the Beach Parts 1 and 2, respectively. The two releases will be very similar to the 1/48 versions, with some updates and changes, such as swapping out or deleting schemes, and also adding new ones. When I did the 1/48 sheet part 2 in 2021, it was disappointing that I could only exclude one squadron – VMFA-513. The little cartoon owl that adorned the tail of this aircraft from 1965 was not clear enough to me at that time. Today, I am happy to report that this is no longer the situation and we can now include two VMFA-513 scheme for the 1/72 release. This may be the first time that 513’s Vietnam markings are represented at any scale. Besides VMFA-513, the other squadrons of course included in the two 1/72 releases are VMFA-115 Silver Eagles, VMFA-122 Crusaders, VMFA-212 Lancers, VMFA-232 Red Devils, VMFA-314 Black Knights, VMFA-323 Death Rattlers, VMFA-334 Falcons, VMFA-531 Gray Ghosts, and VMFA-542 Tigers.
