Shipping containers became the backbone of logistics support for Vietnam. Nearly every major army unit moving into that theatre carried their spare parts and supplies inside containers. The industry started to develop ways of moving containers. During the Vietnam conflict, Sea-Land Container Services, Inc. first introduced containerships designed only to carry containers.

The term “CONEX” remains in common use in the US military to refer to the similar but larger ISO-standard shipping containersThe Kit:This kit contains a single 8-foot container with shelves of stores inside to make up a PX store from the Vietnam era. The kit is filled with plastic and cardboard packaging and rack-type shelves. The inside of the store has a fridge, a fan and a chair to “guard” the shop. Alsation dog is with the man who works in the store. The kit is mainly plastic but includes some photo-etching to reproduce the thinnest parts of the container. This kit comes with two different marking options. We will update you as soon as we have more information.
