Saigon Shuttle Motor-Tricycle Depot and “take break driver”Models
From Gecko
Kit No #35GM0113
1/35th scale
The Lambros were present in Saigon from as early as the 1950s. The Lambros reached their height in the 1970s. The old Southern Government adopted a privatization policy that allowed people to afford low-interest instalment payments. The Xe Lam was a popular vehicle, and the number of Xe Lam owners increased dramatically. The vehicle was expensive at the time: each one weighed 1.125 kilograms of gold. Due to the absence of automobiles and their immobility, the Xe Lam played a major role in transport in South Vietnam after 1975. In the 1990s cheap motorbikes were popular and the Xe Lam was less prevalent. Today, 3-wheel Lambros can still be found in Saigon.
