Grumman Avenger Conversion & Detail Sets
Special Hobby has released two new CMK kits for the 1:48 Accurate Miniatures Grumman Avenger, and subsequent Academy and Italeri reboxings.
TBM-3E Avenger Conversion Set
The TBM-3E, a lighter version of Avenger began leaving the production line in 1944. The increased weight allowed for better performance and the addition of APS-4 radar under the wing meant the Avengers could also be used in night missions. The conversion includes both external and interior modifications. It offers new fuselage sections, blanking off parts for the belly gunner’s position, the arrestor hook, the starboard wing set of radar, as well as the interior controls. Conversion combines 3D-printed and resin-cast parts. The Accurate Miniatures or reboxings of the Accurate Miniatures models by Italeri and Academy are compatible with this decal sheet. The decal sheet offers markings for two US Navy machines that flew in the PTO in the final stage of WW2.
