Model1/48th scale

The F/A-18E/F Super Hornet is a larger and more advanced variant of the F/A-18C/D Hornet. McDonnell Douglas marketed an early version of the Hornet 2000 during 1980s. Hornet 2000 was a more advanced F/A-18 concept with larger wings, a longer fuselage for carrying more fuel and stronger engines. F/A-18E/F fuselages were stretched 860mm in order to accommodate fuel, future upgrades of avionics and a 25% increase in wing surface. The Super Hornet, however, has 42% less structural components than the Hornet’s original design. General Electric F414 engines, which were developed by General Electric from Hornet F404’s, have 35% more horsepower. The colour schemes in this set

The Super Hornet entered service with the United States Navy in 1999, replacing the F-14 Tomcat since 2006. 1/72nd scale

ModelDuring February of 1943, the Navy requested to investigate ways to increase the power of the Avenger. The designers responded by undertaking a study for an Avenger that had a 2000 horsepower R-2800 and 250CE turret. The high demand for the engine for other higher-priority aircraft prevented the design study from progressing, but the need for additional engine power for the Avenger was now recognised.

The TBM-3 retained the gun-armed wing of the TBF-1C with Mk 5 zero-length rocket launchers standardised in place of the earlier Mk 4 rocket rails. The cockpit instruments were rearranged, and to improve the pilot’s night vision, the instrument panel lighting was changed from direct ultra violet lighting to indirect red lighting.
