The kit contains three marking choices in the box.Full engine & clear parts are includedWe first saw the nucleus of this new series of 1/48th scale Junkers J13 from a cryptic post on Facebook earlier this year. This new tooling from MiniArt in 48th Scale looks to be the Junkers F13 Early Production. In 1920 it entered service, and 322 aircrafts were built over a decade. The last recorded commercial flight operated by Germany took place just before the outbreak of World War II in 1939.

Initially released with a lower tail fin, the F13 was an advanced aircraft for its time. The F13 was a revolutionary monoplane with a cantilever wing and an all metal skin. This aircraft could accommodate four people in enclosed quarters. Junkers established their own airline

Junkers Luftverkehrs AG

, using 60 of these planes, helping to boost sales. Lufthansa purchased 55 J13s. The F13 flew below the ceiling for comfort. The F13 in an earlier release with the lower tail fin. The Soviet Union and United States were given licenses to manufacture the F13. This kit includes a great picture of the plane taken apart. It was especially important in the 1920s, when there were few airports near many distant destinations. While most F13s were retired by World War II, some remained in operation post-war, with the last known flight taking place in Brazil in 1951.

Although many F13s are displayed in museums worldwide, none of the original aircraft are in flying condition. In 2009, however, a German and Swiss company decided, after receiving the Junkers’ approval, to produce new F13s that were as similar to the original designs as possible. The first of these new aircraft, built by

, flew in 2016. Four more are being produced, each priced at $2.5 million.

The 231 kw (310hp) Junkers L-5 six-cylinder upright in-line liquid-cooled engine is presented here in full.

The doors can be posed opened or closed….

The flying controls and instrument panel are reproduced in full.

All of the crew and passenger seats are present with photo-etched seatbelts included.

For this release, we can expect wheels for the fixed undercarriage. We will surely see a more flat plane later editions. On one sheet, you will find the decals for the cockpit instruments, the number stencils, and the aircraft markings. This initial release kit comes with three different marking options.
