The Subject: The Junkers-Larsen JL-6

One of the lesser-known versions of the renowned Junkers F-13 was the American-built Junkers Larsen JL-6. Three of the aircraft, although only a few were built, were used by the U.S. Navy to conduct tests in the 1920s. JL-6s were built using the older style of shorter wings and curved Ailerons. This was similar to the German F-13s that featured the short wings. The wing was then lengthened to produce a larger wing with curved ailerons, which is a characteristic of the majority F-13s. Eight JL-6s were built for airmail and civil companies. Three went to the US Navy and two to the United States Army Air Service. The most well-known JL-6’s were the 2 aircraft used by Imperial Oil for prospecting in Canada and the US Postal Service aircraft.
Featuring a robust, all-metal structure, enclosed cockpit, and singular wing design, postal authorities had high hopes that the Junkers JL-6 would address numerous operational and maintenance issues. The kit is MiniArt’s 48th-scale Junkers-Larsen JL.6 military service. You will find plastic, photo-etch and clear in the box. The CADs will show you more about the kit. We will surely see a plane with rounded edges in later editions. The Junkers L-5 6 cylinder inline upright liquid cooled engine with 231 kw is shown here. Doors can be opened and closed. All of the crew and passenger seats are present with photo-etched seatbelts included.

This kit is due for release in a month’s time
