The Subject: The StuH 42 Ausf.G Mid Prod. Jul-Oct. 1943
The StuH42, SdKfz 142/2 or Sturmhaubitze – 42 was a German self-propelled howitzer that was in use during World War II. The StuH 42 was first developed in 1942, when the need for an anti-infantry support vehicle and production of StuGs was at its peak. The StuH 42 was first developed in 1942, when the need for an anti-infantry support vehicle was needed and the production of StuGs was in full force.

It only seemed logical to convert this already battle-tested and readily available chassis into a specialist vehicle, and because many features were carried over, development time was cut short just in time for the Battle of Kursk, where around seventy StuHs fought. The StuH 42 continued to serve on the Western Front and Eastern Front until the war’s end. In the end, around 1,200 were produced.
The kit from Miniart:
Another of the StuH series from MiniArt. The kit is easy to build because it does not have interior parts. The kit is without interior parts, so this is an easy construction.
This kit also includes tow cables, tools and equipment for the exterior of the tank, hatches that can be opened or closed, clear parts are provided for the periscopes; & individual track links are included
There are some minor parts in Photo-etch that eliminate some of the need for thinner, more delicate plastic & bring detail at such a small scale.
