Italeri – 556068 WWII German SS 1/72 scale plastic Model kit On 16th December 1944, German forces advanced through the Ardennes forests in Belgium to join the First U.S. Army. This was the Wehrmacht’s final offensive on the Western front before the surrender in 1945. Von Rundstedt’s “Wacht am Rhein”, a plan he devised, envisaged the use of elite Wehrmacht units and Waffen SS. The siege of Bastogne on December 21, 1944 was the climax of this offensive. The 101st Airborne Division defended the town. This kit includes models equipped with the Sturmgewehr 44, which is considered to be the predecessor of assault rifles today.
