The Chance Vought F4U Corsair was an American fighter plane that primarily saw service in World War II and the Korean War. Demand for the plane soon exceeded Vought’s production capacity, resulting in Goodyear’s production: Goodyear-made Corsairs called FG. From the first prototype delivery to the US Navy in 1940 to the final delivery to the French in 1953, 12,571 F4U Corsair Vought plane and 16 separate models were built. And that was the longest production run of any piston-engined fighter in US history.
