Preview: Special Hobby & CMK kits for September
In Special Hobby’s September new kits we see mostly small scale models, plus the larger scale 1/32nd scale Fiat G.50bis that comes in the bomber and navalized versions. Other model kits in 1/72 are the P-40N with its very appealing schemes, the colourful B-12A interwar bomber, as well as our reissued 1/72 SMB.2 French Jet Fighter. In October, we will announce some more detail sets for the model. Our range of model kits received a new addition not long ago in the shape of the 1/72SH72505 F84F Thunderstreak Reborn Luftwaffe model. This kit contains a fragment from the F-84F which crashed on our soil. The thousand kits made were all sold almost immediately. As more fragments were not available, we wondered what would happen next. All the time spent on colour schemes and decals could have resulted in more kit sets being sold. The decision was made to release the model again, but without the fragment. Instead, a mask pre-cut and the 4 machine gun noses were 3D printed. This release is also accompanied by a re-release of another much loved kit, the 1/72 SH72388 Mirage F.1C/C-200 ‘Armee de I’Air’ and a new reboxing of the 1/48 scale CAC CA-19 Boomerang. The 1/72-scale 3D printed M29C kit is also included in this release. In 1/48-scale, there are more detail sets to go with the TBF-3/TBM-3 Avenger kit. 100-SH32089

The Fiat G.50 fighter was introduced to service with the Regia Aeronautica even before the outbreak of WW2 as the first version of the type had been tested in the late stages of the Spanish civil war. G.50bis was developed as a reaction to the earlier Italian fighter types which were not up to par with modern fighters. The Fiat G.50bis/N fighter with an arrestor hook was also planned to be deployed on the currently being built Aquila and Sparviero aircraft carriers. However, this never materialised as the carriers were never finished. This kit can be used to build either the fighter bomber or the navalized G.50bis/N type. . The Martin Company revolutionized aircraft design when it introduced its B-10, B-12, and B-14 bomber families. A metal monoplane with closed cockpits, and engine cowlings completely concealed, appeared in the 1930s, when biplanes covered by fabric ruled the sky. These new aeroplanes were not only faster than the other bombers at the time but they also outpaced the fighter types. This, in turn, led to the development of monoplane fighters. Aeroplanes were designed with a new concept that required major changes around the world. Both of these are included in our model kit. Kit includes four aircraft, with three painted in blue and white, while the fourth is in aluminum dope. The aircraft portrayed differ by the bomber unit insignias.

P-40N Warhawk ‘Island Warriors’

Art.no. 100-SH72502

1/72nd Scale

The P-40 US-built fighter aeroplane is one of the very iconic types of the war and was also supplied to the Allies, named the Kittyhawk. In US colors, the P-40N is considered to be the last production version. It was mainly used over China and India as well as Pacific battlefields. The machines were assigned to different units and wore various markings that referred to their squadron. The Pacific Island-based aircraft were painted in sand, which was more appropriate for the location of their deployment. The two chosen schemes were sand and light blue while the remaining two used the standard Olive Drab/Neutral Gray scheme. All four aircraft have colourful and eye-catching markings.

– Very interesting schemes

Wehrmacht Bicycle (2 pcs

)

3D printed Parts

Art.no. It was not just a mode of transportation or a sport that civilians used. Many armies added bicycles to their arsenal in the early twentieth century because they can transport a great deal and are faster than pedestrians. Bicycles were in use by the German Army even before World War I. The new, rebuilt Wehrmacht also introduced the invention in the 1930s and continued to use it up until the end. In many photographs, bicycles are seen being used in military situations. They can be equipped with a Panzerfaust or a machinegun. The 3D printed bicycles are of the highest quality. On one of the bicycles, there is a panzerfaust mounted on it and an open box to hold grenades. One bicycle is capable of carrying a machine-gun or rifle.
