Viking, Valetta and Varsity Sample Pages

Guideline Publications sent us a few pages from the Warpaint Book on the Vickers Viking Valetta, and Varsity.
The Vickers VC.1 Viking is a British twin-engined short-range aircraft derived from Vickers Wellington Bomber. It was built at Brooklands, near Weybridge, Surrey by Vickers-Armstrongs Limited. The Viking became a popular airliner for British carriers after the Second World War. This was before the Viscount turboprop plane came along. Valetta, a derivative developed for Royal Air Force training and transport, was an improved version of the Viking. Varsity, a twin-engined versatile aircraft, was developed from Viking and Valetta, but had a ventral pannier and tricycle undercarriage for bombaimer training. This Warpaint relates all three types’ history, focusing on military operators as the title suggests. It is profusely illustrated by 125 top quality photographs, nearly all in colour, from the author’s extensive photograph archive and supported by excellent colour profiles and plans by Sam Pearson.

Designed with both the aircraft enthusiast and the model maker in mind, the Warpaint titles try to establish as near as possible a comprehensive and accurate account of a single aircraft type within one set of covers.
