Taming the Weasel. Takom 1
/35th M29 scale Weasel

To state that the Weasel & I started off in the wrong direction is an understatement. It may be recalled that I reviewed the Takom kit released last year, where the reviewer thought the kit looked more like a pig. After the torture of the build, I was not motivated to finish the model. It was only a review and I was finished. So it sat in primer on my shelf. It taunted me daily. This is the colourscheme that I was trying to replicate in this build…

In todays video, I’ll take you through the steps I took to paint and weather the model in a muddy, snow style finish with a view of using some of these techniques on your own models. But ultimately, I had a thought about trying a new technique for an upcoming build but wanted to test it on something prior to committing to it, and this seemed be the perfect test bed.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zfR1l1xV34kConclusionTakomIt’s a real shame this kit is such a difficult and tricky build, because the Weasel is one of those long-neglected subjects in the hobby, and the kit really should have been a must have in every armour modellers stash. The model looks good now that it’s been painted and weathered, and I can forgive the whole process. It was a little workhorse which played a major role in the Allied War effort. This kit was a semi-prepared build, so I briefly thought about getting the amphibious model to see if it could be improved. The urge to build the model quickly faded. Stay tuned for the next part coming soon…
