Special Hobby has extended its range of 1 : 72 kits based upon the classic Martin B-10 “Golden Era”, with the Pratt & Whitney Hornet powered B-12A.
The Martin Company started a revolutionary revolution in the design of aircraft with their bomber families B-10, B-12, and B-14. This was due to the different engines that were used. In early 1930s, when biplanes with fabric skins were the norm, a metal monoplane appeared. It had closed cockpits, and the engines were hidden inside the cowlings. These new aeroplanes were not only faster than the other bombers at the time but they also outpaced the fighter types. This, in turn, led to the development of monoplane fighters. The aeroplane design concept required serious changes worldwide.
The B-12 version was powered by R-1690 radials, the early and late varieties differed by the style of the top cowling air intakes. Both of these are included in our model kit. Kit #
